Overview
The Board of Equalization (BOE) is an independent agency created in each county and appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. Their main purpose is to equalize valuations that are used to impose property taxes in Klickitat County. The BOE hears and rules on taxpayer petitions that appeal the valuations made by the County Assessors. They remain independent of the Assessor's Office, accountable only to the Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Revenue.
